Red Vacuums is a family-owned business proudly serving Northern Virginia for over a decade. We're looking for an experienced Central Vacuum Service Technician to help us grow our central vacuum division.

This position is ideal for someone with previous experience diagnosing, repairing, installing, and servicing residential central vacuum systems.

While much of the work currently involves in-store support and central vacuum repairs, our goal is to expand our scheduled in-home central vacuum service throughout Northern Virginia and DMV area. The right candidate will play an important role in helping us grow this part of our business.

Responsibilities

Central Vacuum Service

• Diagnose and repair residential central vacuum systems.
• Troubleshoot suction issues, motor failures, electrical problems, clogged tubing, and system performance.
• Replace motors, circuit boards, hoses, inlets, switches, and other components.
• Test systems thoroughly after repairs and installation

Installation

• Install residential central vacuum systems.
• Replace power units and accessories.
• Perform system upgrades when needed.
• Ensure installations meet manufacturer recommendations and company quality standards.

Customer Service

• Explain repair options and installation recommendations.
• Answer customer questions professionally.
• Maintain accurate repair notes and service documentation.
• Represent Red Vacuums professionally during customer interactions.

Store Support

When not performing scheduled service appointments, responsibilities may include:

• Assisting with in-store repairs.
• Helping customers with products and accessories.
• Organizing inventory and service parts.
• Supporting other repair and store operations based on experience and business needs.
• Keeping work areas clean and organized.

Qualifications

We're looking for someone who already has experience working with central vacuum systems.

The ideal candidate:

• Has experience installing and servicing residential central vacuum systems (commecial central vac systems are a plus).
• Can troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues independently.
• Has excellent customer service skills.
• Is dependable, organized, and professional.
• Takes pride in quality workmanship.
• Works well independently with minimal supervision.
• Has a valid driver's license and reliable transportation with a clean driving record.
• Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check.

Experience with Beam, Vacuflo, Riccar, MD Manufacturing, Cyclo Vac, Cana-Vac, Nutone, Imperium, Hayden, or similar systems is preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 75 pounds.
• Comfortable using ladders and working in basements, utility rooms, attics, and crawl spaces when necessary.
• Comfortable using hand and power tools throughout the day.
