GT Korea 2018 to Boost South Korea’s Leadership in the Sewing Technology Niche

Not many people might be aware of the fact that South Korea is among the leading manufacturers of sewing technology across the globe. However, with the country no longer hosting the industry’s dedicated international- level trade show, the large scale speculation about the future of sewing technology, was only quite natural. But now putting an end to all the speculation and controversy, South Korea has announced the re-launching of its garment machinery and textile industry trade show, GT Korea. Being the country’s only sewing machine exhibition to be held on an international scale, the event is expected to boost South Korea’s position as a global sewing powerhouse.

About GT Korea

The event will be held from 14th to16th Nov 2018, was earlier known by the name of Korea International Garment Machinery and Textile Industry fair. It will be the first textile and garment fair to be organized by the country since 2005, when the Seoul International Sewing Machinery Exhibition was held. The event has been organized by Korea Sewing Machinery Industrial Association in collaboration with Seoul MESSE International Ltd., Monthly Bobbin Journal and JES Media Inc.  The fair will be held at KINTEX in Ilsan at Gyeonggi.

Likely Key Participants

It is expected that the event will see the participation of 120 countries covering over 400 booths. These include manufacturers and deals of garment machinery and parts, textile machinery and parts, fabric and technical textiles and non-woven machinery and parts. The event is also likely to attract prominent buyers of sewing technology from countries such as China, Taiwan, Vietnam, Indonesia, and other garment manufacturing hubs across the globe. The event has been planned to avoid any clash with two of the world’s leading technology exhibitions named CISMA and IFMA. This has been done to ensure a greater participation from the both the exhibitors and buyers of textile technology from different parts of the world. The 3 days long event will be focusing on product innovation for smart fibre and technical textile markets.

Benefits Of The Event For South Korea

As mentioned before, there has been a serious lack of textile fairs and exhibitions in South Korea for too long. Many experts cite the recession in the domestic market as the major reason behind no specialized international level exhibitions being organized in the country for more than a decade. But now, with GT Korea, the country is all set to revive the platform that the manufacturers within the country can use to seal business deals and expand their network and contacts with international buyers.
